I haven't made Valentines in a few years, but I love the idea of hand crafted love notes. I was doing a little scouting on
Martha's site for inspiration, and came across an incredible article on the art of quilling. I'd never heard of quilling, but oh my, it's gorgeous! The delicate curls, scrolls, coils, and folds of paper make ordinary 2D script and flourishes look mundane. I want to save up some patience and have a go at it!
Mary, you sound just like I did when I first saw that article in Martha's Living magazine (Feb 02 issue)... HAD TO learn how to do it, no question about it. I hope you'll find some time to try quilling, as once you're comfortable with the basics it's really relaxing and a joy to do.
ReplyDeleteAnn,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the encouragement! I'm planning some 'no-pressure' practice sessions before I commit to doing cards this year. I'm definitely excited!
Ann is right, once you start quilling you will fall in love with it. I invite you to visit my blog www.quillingwithwhimsiquills.blogspot.com (I have some quilled Valentines posted) and my web site Whimsiquills.com I have free patterns and instructional information on both sites. Have a go at it, you will love it!
ReplyDeletePat,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your beautiful blog and website with me. Your work is incredible (so artful, it's quite daunting)! I'll keep reminding myself that it takes years to become a master such as yourself. Thanks again for the inspiration!
