Last night I departed on a trip to India and watched a love quadrangle unfold between temple dancer, high priest, princess and noble warrior. Yes, La Bayadère at the Met! It was magical. This ballet is one of my two faves. The scenery is absolutely majestic. The costumes are beyond whimsical. But the dancing- the dancing transports you to another world. It was the first time I watched soloist
Hee Seo in a leading role (Nikiya the bayadère) and I must say she is now one of my favorites at ABT. Watching her was entrancing!
